Rita da Cascia offers specialized
services for low-income HIV
infected mothers and their infected and affected children.
The comprehensive family support approach emphasizes
concrete solutions, early intervention and the development
of a community based support network. It is designed to
strengthen and preserve the family unit. Weekly recreational
field trips and therapeutic programs are provided to enhance
the emotional and intellectual development of the children
and their mothers.
Our liaison for Rita, Nancy Weber, will be
leaving that role gradually over the year. A new member in
2010, Michelle Shalar, plans to shadow Nancy and serve as
liaison in the future. We are most grateful to Michelle and
we join Diane Gutierrez in her thanks to Nancy.
