Roaring Into the Year of the Tiger

February 1, 2022

Catholic Charities joins our community and approximately 2 billion people across the globe in celebrating Lunar New Year which begins today, February 1st. While also known as Chinese New Year, Lunar New Year is celebrated in Korea, Singapore, Mongolia, Tibet, Vietnam, and in Asian communities worldwide. An auspicious time marking the end of winter and the beginning of spring, Lunar New Year signifies rebirth and hope.

2022 is the Year of the Tiger, an animal that in Asian cultures embodies strength, courage, and wisdom, and possesses a drive to help others – characteristics essential as we work together to create a just, more equitable community where all thrive and are valued.

Today and every day, let us join together in celebration of the diversity that is foundational to the Bay Area and for which we are profoundly grateful.
