Showing Up For Our Immigrant Communities

March 22, 2022

Stanford Student Volunteers Support Immigrant Families

Strong community partnerships fuel our work every day. For the past year, Stanford University Spanish-language students with a passion for civic engagement have been partnering with Catholic Charities Center for Immigration Legal & Support Services (CILSS) to facilitate legal, social, and emotional guidance to immigrants in the Bay Area.

Stanford student volunteers work directly with our unaccompanied minors and their families. From helping with bi-monthly food and clothing distributions to providing administrative support, to connecting clients with external resources, our volunteers deliver help and hope.

One student who helped families fill out a San Mateo county immigrant inclusion survey says: “It has been a terrific experience showing up for the community, interacting with the families, and practicing Spanish."

Together with our volunteers, we strive to equip unaccompanied minors and their families with important knowledge, tools, and resources they need to be healthy and successful. Thank you, Stanford volunteers, for your time, talent, and dedication!
